MANILA, Philippines – Emilio Aguinaldo College has yet to reach the NCAA Final Four since joining the league in 2009.
King Gurtiza is playing in his final year and hopes to end the generals’ 15-year losing streak. Gurtiza and the Generals came one step closer to that goal on Saturday.

“I just want to leave a (lasting) legacy in the NCAA and the EAC by reaching the Final Four in my last season,” Gurtiza said in Filipino after leading the EAC to a 101-94 victory over San Sebastian in the NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball tournament.

“For me it’s just about us helping each other as a team and at the same time trusting the system of our coaches. We have to work together to achieve our goal this season.”
Gurtiza finished his career with a career-high 27 points, in addition to five rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal.

With the win, the Generals forced a three-way tie for fourth place with Letran and Lyceum 6-6 with only six games remaining in the elimination round.

“I am confident enough because everything I do in the games, I practice every day.”
“My teammates and coaches also give me the confidence, which I’m grateful for, so when I have the ball I just let it fly. I just do my part.”
EAC is looking to strengthen its position in Wednesday’s Final Four race against Jose Rizal University.
