In a surprising incident, a 55-year-old Russian man died in his home after his pet cat scratched him with fatal claws.

according to New Zealand HeraldDmitry Okhin went out to search the streets for his runaway ginger cat, who had been missing from home for two days.

Fortunately but unfortunately for him, Okhen was able to track down his cat on November 22 and bring it home.

The ginger cat named Stypoka tried to escape again and scratched his leg after he tried to stop him from escaping again.

His wound began bleeding heavily and he was unable to stop the bleeding due to a medical condition that prevents the body from forming blood clots.

O’Kane reportedly called his neighbor for help – as he was home alone at the time – who in turn called emergency responders but the scratches were so severe that O’Kane died before paramedics arrived at his home.

A police source told local media: “At around 11 p.m., a man called 112 to report that his friend was bleeding from his leg due to a ruptured vein.”

The source added, “The doctors who arrived only confirmed the man’s death, which is what the police received a phone message about.”

The accident occurred in the remote Kirishsky district, east of St. Petersburg.

Okhin’s wife, Natalia, told local reporters that Stepuka is a gentle and harmless cat, who often likes to go for walks alone.

The cat’s whereabouts are still unknown.
