Sister Wife’s son Gabe Brown hit his father Kody Brown with an ultimatum. In Season 19, we watched the family divide deepen. Kody’s loss of connection with his adult children. One by one they walked away. And now Gabe is the latest to say he’s ready to leave his father for good.
In episodes of TLC’s Sister Wives, we see that Kody Brown’s older children are fed up with his neglect. Gabriel (Gabe) Brown, one of Janelle Brown’s sons, is the last to lose his patience. If you’ve watched the recent seasons, you know that the pandemic was a deal breaker for the entire Brown family.
Kody established strict rules that many in the family, including Janelle and Christine Brown, found intolerably burdensome. And mostly their children’s. Kody even accused two of his older sons of prioritizing “wetting their pencils” over safety during the COVID crisis.
Gabe Brown recently told Janelle about a conversation he had with Kody. She said Kody reached out to her to chat. However, Gabe told Janelle that his father acted like he owed Kody an apology. But he doesn’t feel the need to tell his father he’s sorry about anything.
In the Sister Wives episode, Gabe told Janelle that he made it clear to Kody that he would end contact with him unless he was ready to make a real effort to make things right. Gabe then told Janelle that Kody texted her a few days later saying, “I forgive you, will you forgive me too?”
This really rubbed Gabe the wrong way. He couldn’t see what Kody had done to make him forgive him. But on the other hand, Gabe felt like he should definitely beg for forgiveness for the things his father had done. At this point, Gabe told his mother that he was ready to cut her out of his life completely. And he wouldn’t be the first child to do so.
Sister Wives Gabe Brown Gives Kody Brown an Ultimatum to Mend Broken Relationship
Lack of responsibility is a recurring problem for the Brown children. And Kody Brown’s ex-wives. For example, Mykelti Brown Padron recently had a harsh reaction after seeing the latest episodes of Sister Wives. He said his father never took responsibility. Even when he does this, he puts the blame on others.
In his conversation and confessions on the TLC show, we heard Kody say that he wishes he had never married Meri Brown. And that he never loved Meri or Janelle or Christine Brown. That’s a terrible thing for his children with three ex-wives, right?
Hearing him tell his children that he should never have married their mother is like saying he regrets the event that led to their existence. It’s not the kind of thing that will win you the “father of the year” trophy. Kody also blamed Christine and Janelle for the distance between him and his adult children. He accused them of badmouthing him.
Janelle Brown said that the main reason she eventually broke up with Kody was because he mistreated her children. She also said she thinks Kody is using the pandemic as an excuse to withdraw from the family. That way, he said, he could hide out with his favorite wife, Robyn Brown, and their children.
At this point, Janelle isn’t sure Kody can repair his broken relationships with his kids. Gabe said it was God’s will.
SW Janelle Brown Doubts Kody Can Mend Broken Family Ties with Kids
Additionally, Gabe Brown said he misses seeing Kody and Robyn’s kids. But he holds out little hope for a relationship with Robyn. Gabe says Robyn is playing the victim. And she says everyone claims to have always hated her and her children.
Considering the family’s loss of Garrison Brown, you’d think Kody would do his best to mend his rift with his remaining children. But we’ve seen no evidence of this happening in real time. Even Robyn begged Kody to prioritize his children over his own feelings.
