ANTIPOLO CITY – PLDT used a late-game rally to secure its second straight victory in the PVL All-Filipino Conference after defeating Galeries Tower 27-25, 25-22, 25 here at the Ynares Center on Tuesday night -23 had defeated.
The High Speed Hitters once again turned to the returning Savi Davison, who scored 28 points based on 26 attacks and two blocks to earn PLDT’s second straight win in as many games.

After dominating the first two sets, the Highrisers tried to force a fourth set with a 15-21 lead before PLDT woke up to erase the deficit with a 10-2 run and complete the cleanup.

“We shouldn’t have let it get to the point where they were able to catch up even though we controlled the start. “The reminder to the team is, like in the game against Nxled, that just because we are up 2-0 doesn’t mean we can relax,” said coach Rald Ricafort, referring to the Chameleons, who faced it had already managed to extend the game in the last game and PLDT secured victory.

“It wasn’t intentional but maybe they got too relaxed which led to these runs. We are happy that we still got the win, but hopefully we can find ways to avoid that next time,” Ricafort added.

Erika Santos contributed 14 points on 12 attacks, one block and one ace. Majoy Baron added six points, including four from four blocks. Captain Kath Arado caught 15 excellent shots while rookie Angelica Alcantara dished out 15 excellent sets.
Galeries Tower suffered its third straight defeat despite France Ronquillo’s 19 points, all but one from kills. Jho Maraguinot debuted with 10 points.
PLDT is aiming for a third straight win against Capital 1 on November 26 at the PhilSports Arena, while the Highrisers are aiming for a breakthrough against ZUS Coffee, which snapped a 20-game losing streak in the previous venue, on November 28 at the same Pasig City .
