Petro Gazz extended his PVL All-Filipino Conference winning streak to two after adding to Akari’s woes 28-26, 29-27, 25-18 at Smart Araneta Coliseum on Thursday night.
Brooke van Sickle and Myla Pablo teamed up to punish the Chargers, with the Filipino-American slugger dropping 19 points, 15 off tackles and 13 superb digs while Pablo chipped in 15 points off 13 kills, a block and an ace.

Blove Barbon blunted Akari’s serve at 12 as the Angels improved to a 3-1 record after also defeating Farm Fresh on Nov. 23 in Candon, Ilocos Sur province.
“After our rest break, we didn’t play for a while. So it was great to come out and stay focused in those close games. I’m super proud of everyone, I feel like Rem (Palma) did a really good job of rallying all the girls while we’re on the court and just slowing us down because sometimes I feel like we’re thinking “ahhh.”‘ and she says, ‘Calm down, it’s okay, take a breath and just play volleyball,'” Van Sickle said.

“I thought she did a fantastic job of keeping the team together. I thought everyone came out with really good energy. Everyone is smiling, there was a good atmosphere. Akari came out with fire and courage as always and they did a great job. It was a fantastic fight, it was good volleyball,” she added.

Petro Gazz did just that to stay in control throughout the match, even after fighting back from Akari in the first two sets.
Ivy Lacsina led the Chargers with 21 offensive points, Grethcel Soltones added 11 points and Eli Soyud 10 points. Dani Ravena caught 15 outstanding shots while Akari suffered its third straight loss after starting this conference with back-to-back wins.
Petro Gazz will look to control PLDT, who are coming off a defeat, on Tuesday, while Akari will look to take on Chery Tiggo at the PhilSports Arena on Tuesday.
