MANILA, Philippines – Boxer Nesthy Petecio has inspired the country’s top young Filipino athletes to strive for excellence, making it a no-brainer for the two-time Olympic medalist to be nominated as this year’s Sports Idol at the 2024 Nickel Asia Corporation Siklab Youth Sports Awards .
Petecio, silver medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and bronze medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is a perfect role model for the 80 youth and junior athletes from 37 sports who will be honored at Market!Market on December 5th! Ayala Mall BGC Activity Center.

Junior world champion Tachiana Mangin in taekwondo, weightlifters Angeline Colonia and Lovely Inan are the frontrunners for Young Heroes honorees, along with 2024 U.S. junior champion Rianne Mikhaela Malixi in golf and wushu player Alexander Gabriel Delos Reyes.
The awards ceremony, organized by the Philippine Sports Commission-Philippine Paralympic Committee-Philippine Olympic Committee (PSC-PPC-POC) Media Group, will feature Asian junior gymnastics gold medalist Karl Eldrew Yulo and table tennis youth champion Kheith Rhynne Cruz.
