MANILA, Philippines – In TNT’s successful quest for a second straight PBA Governors’ Cup championship, veteran guard Jayson Castro rose to the challenge.
Castro, who played at the age of 38, showed that age could not slow him down as he won the Honda-PBA Press Corps Finals MVP and secured another title for the Tropang Giga after six games.

“He will be the first to tell you that he couldn’t have done it without the help and dedication of his team.”
In the six-game series, Castro averaged 10.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game, winning his third Finals MVP title.

However, it was the first time Castro won the award alone, having shared it with Jimmy Alapag in the 2011 Philippine Cup and the 2011 Commissioner’s Cup.
In Friday’s win, Castro proved to be an important piece of the Tropang Giga title puzzle as he posted 13 points, six assists and two rebounds in 27 minutes of play.
“When you look at the makeup of our team, you realize how important Jayson’s role is,” emphasized Reyes.
“I guess the Finals MVP award is just another accolade for him.”
