MANILA, Philippines—John Cabang withdrew from the men’s 100m hurdles repechage round in the Paris Olympics 2024 on Tuesday due to an injury.
Cabang announced his decision to conclude his Olympic campaign in an Instagram story just minutes before the race.
“I am so sorry. I’m not going to be able to run due to an injury. Thanks to all the people who supported me. Laban Pilipinas,” posted Tolentino.
The 22-year-old Cabang, however, did not specify the injury.
The Filipino hurdler failed to secure an outright spot in the semifinal after finishing sixth in the heats at 13.66 seconds. Only the top three finishers earned automatic tickets to the semis.
His compatriot and fellow hurdler, Lauren Hoffman, also bid goodbye to her Olympic medal bid after being eliminated in the women’s 400m hurdles event on Monday.
