MANILA, Philippines — Far Eastern University and University of the East opened their 2024 Shakey’s Super League Collegiate Pre-season Championship campaigns on a rousing note after beating separate foes on Friday at Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Rookie Clarissed Loresco shone bright for FEU in dominating San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 25-14, 25-19, 25-20, in Pool D.

Loresco scored four of her nine points in the third set to end the game in one hour and 27 minutes. Alyzza Devosora and Kyle Pendon chipped in seven points each. Nikka Medina had six points, while Mitzi Panangin and Ann Asis added five apiece.

“I’m happy that I played well, and I’m thankful to coach Tina (Salak) for giving me the opportunity to show my game today,” said 18-year-old Loresco.

Kath Santos led the Lady Stags with nine points, while Divine Garcia and Juna Gonzales had five each.

Meanwhile,  Jelai Gajero unleashed 20 points to lead the University of the East past Lyceum, 24-26, 25-21, 25-22, 25-15.

Gajero, who has been showing her healthy form in the preseason, carried the Lady Warriors with 17 kills, two blocks, and an ace as star Casiey Dongallo played sparingly for a convincing start in Pool C.

Riza Nogales was a brute force in the middle as she nailed six blocks to finish with 15 points. Kai Cepada contributed nine points, while Nahomie Mpata added eight points highlighted by four blocks.

Johna Dolorito was the lone double-digit scorer for the Lady Pirates with 10 points, as Janeth Tulang and Stacey Lopez added eight points each.
