Beijing: The Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress, China’s top legislative body, began its 12th session on Monday in Beijing.
Zhao Lejie, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, presided over the first plenary session of the session.
The legislators reviewed the draft pre-school education law, the draft review of the Cultural Relics Protection Law, the draft review of the Mineral Resources Law, the draft energy law, and the draft review of the Anti-Money Laundering Law.
They discussed a draft law amending the law on monitoring the standing committees of people’s congresses at all levels, a draft law amending deputies to the National People’s Congress and local people’s councils at various levels, and a draft reviewing the arbitration law. Law, the Maritime Law Review Project, and the Science and Technology Popularization Law Review Project.
The legislators also reviewed the State Council’s draft bill on raising local governments’ debt ceilings to replace existing hidden debts, several reports on handling proposals submitted by legislators, the deputy qualification report, and personnel-related bills, among others.
