MANILA, Philippines – Adamson ended a five-game losing streak after a 45-37 loss to No. 3 University of the East on Wednesday in the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Matt Erolon and AJ Fransman teamed up to put the Soaring Falcons back in the win column and earn their first win since September 25th when they defeated National University in the first round on a Joshua Yerro basket.

Adamson won in large part due to his defense, which shut down UE’s usual hitters like Wello Lingolingo, Rainier Maga and Ethan Galang. The three combined for just 15 points on 6 of 23 shooting from the field.

“I think our defense was really commendable. I looked at the stats we used to limit Linglingo, Maga and Galang and then when I looked at their three-point numbers I was surprised that they only managed three. That’s something we tried to take away, so we were successful today,” Adamson coach Nash Racela said.

“Kailangan namin tong game na to so sakin lang is kailangan ko ibigay yung best ko. Credit din sa mga teammates ko kasi sineset up nila ako. “It’s like meeting my teammates, but it’s nothing new,” Erolon said.
“Grateful, I’m grateful today, my coaches, my teammates at the Adamsonians. And when it comes to the upcoming games, we have to play one game at a time as often as possible and practice our preparations as best we can,” Fransman said.
Ced Manzano added a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for Adamson, which earned its fourth win in 11 games.
