Real Madrid rebounded from successive losses to Barcelona and AC Milan with a decisive 4-0 win over Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday. Carlo Ancelotti’s side put in a strong performance to return to winning ways, showing resilience and attacking flair.
The first half witnessed some mixed fortunes for Real Madrid. Vinicius Junior opened the scoring in the 34th minute, but injuries to Rodrigo Goes and Eder Militao cast a shadow over the early match. Militao’s injury is of particular concern, as initial reports indicate that he may have torn his anterior cruciate ligament for the second season in a row. Young defender Raul Asensio came on for Militao and quickly made an impact with a brilliant pass, setting up Jude Bellingham’s first goal of the season just before half-time.
In the second half, Vinicius continued his brilliance, completing his second hat-trick this season with two quick goals within ten minutes. He skillfully controlled a pass from Andriy Lunin to score his second goal, and then connected with a pass from Brahim Diaz to score his third.
With this victory, Real Madrid reduced the gap with league leaders Barcelona to six points, although Barcelona could restore the nine-point difference by defeating Real Sociedad on Sunday evening.
