Days of Our Lives fan favorite Brandon Barash has revealed his shocking firing from the Peacock soap opera. His character, Stefan DiMera, debuts on Monday, October 28. Barash confirmed that Stefan will leave the team next week; It looks like his tenure on the show will be coming to an end as the week begins.
He announced that he was fired even though he was in the middle of a contract. And it was the writers’ choice to undermine it. Barash was notified immediately after filming the bittersweet scene with actress Cherie Jimenez (Gabi Hernandez). If you remember, it was after crazy Connie’s bomb plot.
Stefan brought flowers to Gabi at the hospital. And they talked about saving their marriage. So Brandon was happy with his work. He said he was later called to Stefan actress Janet Drucker’s office. And he knew what would happen.
Janet is the executive producer of Days of Our Lives. He said the firing shocked him and hurt his ego. But Barash said he’s also excited about the future and what’s next for him. And he thought the universe was telling him that Days of Our Lives wasn’t where it was supposed to be.
Days of Our Lives: Brandon Barash fired from role as Stefan DiMera – Debuts Monday as Kidnapping Victim
Brandon Barash wrapped filming as Stefan DiMera in the first week of March 2024. And although she was blindsided by his expulsion, she’s glad she was able to spend most of her son’s first year with him because they had the hatchet.
Similarly, Barash left General Hospital before the birth of his daughter. However, he said it was his choice, even though that wasn’t the case on Days of Our Lives; they kicked him out. Still, he’s grateful for all the memories he has at home with his family.
Barash shares daughter Harper Rose with his ex-wife, General Hospital actress Kirsten Storms (Maxie Jones). And he shares one-year-old son Joaquin with current wife Isa Barash. Like a devoted father, Brandon says being a father is his most important role.
Brandon is sorry to leave the story between Stefan, Gabi and EJ DiMera (Daniel Feuerriegel) behind. And I felt like they were going somewhere interesting with Days of Our Lives. Both Cherie Jimemenz and Feuerriegel were unhappy with Barash’s sudden departure.

It seems unlikely that Brandon Barash will return to Days of Our Lives. Partly because he says this is the second time he’s been let go in the middle of his soap contract. Barash said the story and contract had to be “very, very true” for him to return.
He lost confidence in the show’s team. Brandon said there needs to be trust in business, just like in marriage. When the going gets tough, you need to know that they will stick with you. He said that they didn’t know what to do with his character on a TV show like this, but they knew he had a new child and they deleted him.
So he doesn’t have that much trust in them anymore. Since his firing, the writing staff has changed and Ron Carlivati left Days of Our Lives. However, it is unclear whether Carlivati was the decision-maker behind this dismissal.
Stefan DiMera’s debut began on Friday, October 25. That’s when a masked man drugged Stefan. He tore up the divorce papers after deciding to fight for Gabi. Stefan was drugged and left unconscious on the couch.
Then, on Monday, Stefan’s mother, Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel), stops Gabi at the door of the mansion. Vivian’s butler, Ivan Marais (Ivan G’Vera), drugged her son on her orders. And next week, Ivan stuffs Stefan into the trunk of a car and he’s taken away. They will never be seen again unless they change the role or convince Brandon Barash to trust them again…
