ANKARA: Three people were killed and five others were injured in an attack on the headquarters of Turkish airline TUSAS, Kahramankazan District Mayor Selim Şerbanoglu told Turkish TV channel Tele1.
Turkish media reported a strong explosion at the site and showed footage of the exchange of fire there.
“A terrorist attack was carried out against TUSAS facilities in Kahramankazan, Ankara. Unfortunately, we have martyrs and wounded,” Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on social media.
The cause of the explosion and subsequent shooting remains unclear, with some media reports claiming a suicide attack. Emergency services were sent to the state-owned site Anatolia Agency I mentioned.
Television footage showed a destroyed gate and a nearby clash in the parking lot.
TUSAS is one of the most important defense and aviation companies in Türkiye. It produces KAAN, the country’s first national fighter aircraft, among other projects.
