MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel Beer star CJ Perez praised Barangay Ginebra’s defense in the Beermen’s loss that ended their PBA Governors’ Cup campaign.
The normally explosive Perez was silenced in Game 6 of the semifinals on Sunday as the Gin Kings pursued him from the start.

“Ginebra is really a strong team. They are so disciplined and great on defense. For us, we have to keep going and get better,” Perez said in Filipino.

“In the end we just couldn’t do it.”
Perez finished the game with 13 points, six rebounds and eight assists. He shot just 6 of 17 from the field, including 1 of 6 from 3-point range.

“Their defense was focused on me. Hopefully I’ll be better in the next playoffs or conferences and I’ll do my best to get better.”

San Miguel’s semifinal exit was the first in three conferences for the franchise after reaching the championship round in the previous two conferences, including a Commissioner’s Cup crown.
“Next time it will be us (going to the final),” Perez said.
“We will do our best to do better in the next conference. Hopefully we can beat Justin (Brownlee) and Ginebra.”
