She added that a new pair of giant pandas, Bao Li and Qing Bao, left on a chartered flight to the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., early Tuesday.
Mao said that Chinese experts will stay in the United States to accompany them and help them adapt to the new living environment. She added that the public can follow the daily life of the giant panda through various means.
“China and the United States, in accordance with the technical requirements and standards of international cooperation in giant panda conservation, will do everything possible to maintain the health and safety of giant pandas,” Mao said, adding that experts will also be sent on regular or periodic trips.
